How long?

This post is part of the Attachment Parenting Month blog carnival, hosted by Attachment Parenting International. Learn more about how you can stay “Attached at the Heart Through the Years” by visiting API Speaks, the blog of Attachment Parenting International.

There's a song by the Dixie Chicks that I love. A song that I like to listen to over and over again. I like to sing it to my babies while dancing. A song that describes why I want to be an attached parent.  The words speak to me and bring a calmness to my soul. The words remind me to take life slowly.

If you can't see the video, click here.

Life began when I saw your face.

How long do you want to be loved? Is forever enough?

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

Sometimes the boys sleep with me. Sometimes in their own beds. More often than not, the boys start in theirs and end in mine. Some won't agree. But in my family, while my boys are small, we will wait for tomorrow together.

Tomorrow they won't need me much, not like they need me now.

I'm never, never giving them up.

How long do you want to be loved?

That's really a fantastic song. :)

Two weeks ago, this post wouldn't have made quite as much sense to me, but since baby arrived, I know exactly how you feel. <3

it's true...won't it be so sad when they will be too cool to think we're cool?

Beautiful Post. I've never heard this song before but it def. made me cry today. So many people talk about never letting their children in their bed and boy are they missing out! Dalton sleeps in his bed 90% of the time. I love it! They're only babies for so long so I cherish every minute!

This is one of the songs that my partner included in a mix that she put together for our baby during her first couple of weeks. She would play it when we were up in the middle of the night (morning, afternoon, whatever) pumping/feeding her (long story - she didn't learn to latch til 6 weeks).

Anything from that mix makes me cry now, remembering those days.

She will be a year old next week, and I can't believe I'm actually nostalgic for the awful, sleep-deprived, newborn weeks!
